One man arrested in dog fighting raid

SWAINSBORO, GA (WTOC) – An Emanuel County man was arrested and 18 dogs were seized in what lawmen called an “organized and coordinated” dog fighting and training operation.

Sheriff’s deputies and GBI agents arrested William Panick of Gar Road in Oak Park. Lawmen acted on tips from the Atlanta Humane Society and Norred and Associates, a private investigation firm. Norred has initiated 18 similar raids around the state with information from a confidential tip line, 877.215.2250. Read more…

Dog Fighting Raid Emanuel County

Emanuel County RaidAccording to Sheriff J. Tyson Stephens, Emanuel County Investigators, working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, East Central Georgia Drug Task Force, served a search warrant and one arrest was made for dog fighting on Gar Road in Oak Park.

Norred & Associates Inc, an Atlanta private security firm, initiated an investigation that began two months ago as a result of confidential leads reported to a dog fighting tips line sponsored by Norred. Dogfighting Operations Raided in Wilkinson County

GORDON, GA — Authorities said they seized 70 dogs and found the decomposed remains of several more Thursday morning in raids on suspected Wilkinson County dogfighting operations.

One female dog’s right ear had been nearly ripped in two, and both its ears were covered in what appeared to be dried blood. Nearby, a tawny-colored male dog staked out with a short heavy chain was so emaciated its ribs and vertebrae were showing. Those dogs were among the 57 seized from 5006 Ga. 57 near Owens-Shepherd Road.

Dogs found behind a house Thursday on Ga. 57 in Wilkinson County wait to be taken for treatment after law enforcement officers made arrests in suspected dogfighting operations. Below are other dogs found on the properties.

Another 13 dogs were seized from 113 Miller St. in Gordon, where Police Sgt. Andy Hester said the property owner didn’t know about the dogs being kept on his property. Read more…

Gordon, Wilkinson Raid Two Alleged Dogfighting Sites

Gordon GALaw enforcement officers searched two suspected dog-fighting operations in Gordon and Wilkinson County.

Wilkinson County Sheriff Richard Chatman says his office arrested 42-year-old Christopher A. Williams for cruelty to animals at a home off Highway 57. He says his deputies found more than 58 abused dogs living in the woods at the site.

Sgt. Andy Hester with the Gordon Police Department says about a dozen dogs were seized at a home on Miller Street in Gordon. He said many seemed to have cuts and scars. He also said the dogs appeared to be living in large plastic barrels with dirty or no water. Read more…

Suspected Dog Fighting Operations Busted

WILKINSON COUNTY, GA — Police in Middle Georgia have busted two suspected dog fighting operations. Police raided two locations in Wilkinson County and found 70 dogs. They discovered the remains of 6 to 7 additional dogs in the woods. The surviving animals were taken away by the Atlanta Humane Society. Officials there say they showed signs of abuse.

Police received tips from Norred, an Atlanta security company which operates a tip line for dog fighting rings. Norred investigator, Chuck Simmons says they received an anonymous tip. Read more…

IRWINTON, GA (AP) – Authorities are executing two search warrants on suspected dog fighting rings in Wilkinson County.

According to a press release from the Atlanta Humane Society officials say the operations involve about 64 dogs total.

According to a society press release, Norred & Associates Inc. – an Atlanta private security firm – initiated an investigation last month based on information received on a dog fighting tip line. A coordinated investigation among the firm, Wilkinson County Sheriff’s Department and the Gordon Police Department uncovered evidence supporting information that the two locations are dog fighting operations. Warrants Issued In Dogfighting Operations – Around 60 Dogs Involved In Two Locations

WILKINSON COUNTY, GA — Search warrants are in the process of being executed on two suspected dog fighting operations in Wilkinson County, Ga.

Approximately 15 dogs are involved at one location and 40-50 at the other. One location is within the City of Gordon.
